My heart has been full this week. I have been weighed down lately when I get so frustrated with my spot in life. I am so weak. Sometimes I get caught in the rut of failing to notice the tender mercies in my life. I get so caught up in the homework and laundry and fixing of flat tires and cooking, etc. etc. etc. that I don't take time to look beyond the surface of things. I was reading a dear friend's blog today, and I found a list of things to be grateful... I am so grateful for that list. She may never know how much her list touched me. She talked about many of the things that make it into our "gratitude lists": thankful for a warm place to sleep, food to eat, the opportunity to gain an education. But, she took it to a much deeper level. She talked about being grateful for a heavy backpack on your back, because that backpack means you have the ability to get an education, to be grateful for being sore, because it means you have a body that allows you to work. Today, I am so grateful that I have so much german homework to do, because it means I have the ability to learn and understand this language. I am so grateful for finals, because it means I am nearly done with another wonderful semester of college. I am grateful that my room is a mess, because it means I have so many fun clothes. I am grateful for the rain, because rain cleans the world. I am grateful for dirty dishes, because we always have more than enough good food to eat.
I am grateful I can be better tomorrow than I am today!
Try a little harder to be a little better!
