Crazy how life changes so fast. It's amazing to me how well we adjust to change, despite the fact that so often we fight it. Last night I was contemplating my place in life and trying to figure out my next step. I was reading in President Hinckley's book, "Way to Be", in his chapter all about optimism. He talked about how it is always a choice to see the good side to a situation or person, that we can choose to see the silver lining on any cloud. I then looked up optimism in the topical guide. Instead of giving scripture references, it directed me to two different words, hope and cheerfulness. I think that these two words are the key to finding happiness despite the challenges we are facing. When we understand that through our Savior's atonement we can have hope for a brighter future, it gives strength to choose what is right today. There are so many people who would have us believe that we are victims of our circumstances. I beg to differ. We have the ability to become and act as we choose. This is a gift that we are given. We can choose to be happy and brighten the world around us. Imagine the difference we can make when we choose to care. Choose to smile today, and lift others around you!
